Supporting Special Operators

THE PROBLEM:

America has been at war for more than 16 years.  During that time, many of our operations have depended heavily on special operations forces.  As a result, SOF are experiencing many of the same readiness challenges as the military at large.

WHAT WE ARE DOING TODAY:

Under the CR, SOF readiness is degraded due to reductions in training and non-combat related maintenance and sustainment activities.  DOD is unable to begin or continue uninterrupted work on critical contracts including additional ISR platforms, rotary-wing aircraft, and the next generation SEAL Delivery Vehicle.

WHAT WE COULD BE DOING:

The NDAA provides over $800 million in additional funding above the current CR levels to begin the restoration of readiness shortfalls within the full spectrum of Special Operations mission sets.
