Howard P. “Buck” McKeon (R-CA), the top Republican on the Armed Services Committee, today reiterated concerns raised by House Armed Services Committee Chairman Ike Skelton (D-Missouri) that the final health care legislation signed by President Obama this morning does not include the House-passed language protecting coverage for 9.2 million military personnel, retirees, and their families.
Washington, D.C.—Following the revelation that the final health care legislation being rushed through Congress by President Obama and Congressional Democrats might force military personnel to either buy new health insurance or pay a penalty, Armed Services Committee Ranking Member Howard P. “Buck” McKeon (R-CA) today joined the chairman of the House Armed Services Committee in supporting legislation which states explicitly that Department of Defense health care coverage meets the threshold for minimal essential coverage.
