Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Mike Rogers (R-AL), Lead Republican of the House Armed Services Committee, released a statement today regarding the news the August 20th airstrike killed Afghan civilians, including children.
“The news today that the August 29th airstrike ordered by President Biden killed Afghan civilians, including children, is gut-wrenching. This was a tragic mistake. I am praying for the families of the victims.
“The administration claimed their ‘over-the-horizon capacity’ would work. Instead, we have another failure with deadly consequences. The Biden-Harris administration never had a plan and it shows. Mr. President, before more innocent lives are lost, please formulate a counterterrorism plan for Afghanistan.”
