WASHINGTON, DC - Rep. Mac Thornberry (R-TX), ranking member of the House Armed Services Committee, today named Dan Sennott as the Committee's minority staff director. Sennott currently serves as counsel and as the Republican staff lead for the Subcommittee on Military Personnel. He joined the Committee in 2015 following a twenty-year career in the Army, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. Sennott will assume the new role later this month.

The current staff director, Jen Stewart, will be leaving the Committee to serve as chief-of-staff to Secretary of Defense Esper. In making the announcement, Thornberry said:

"I am deeply grateful for Jen's service to the Committee. She is a professional and a patriot. My colleagues on both sides of the aisle and I have come to rely on her insights, dedication, and talent. I am excited about the year ahead with Dan leading the staff. The committee has a tremendous number of issues on our plate, and with Dan's assistance, I am confident we will address them while keeping our focus where it belongs -- on our men and women in uniform."
