Howard P. “Buck” McKeon (R-CA), the senior Republican on the House Armed Services Committee, today questioned Secretary of Defense Robert Gates and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Mike Mullen on President Obama’s strategy to succeed in Afghanistan.  McKeon called specific attention to the President’s arbitrary deadline of July 2011 to begin the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan, the increased U.S. troop commitment, and the plan to build and help professionalize the Afghanistan National Security Forces.

"Buck" McKeon (R-CA) today introduced a Resolution of Inquiry to force the Department of Defense to share with the United States House of Representatives any information that refers or relates to the trial or detention of the terrorists responsible for the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.  The Obama Administration on November 13 announced that the “9/11 co-conspirators” would be brought to New York City and tried in civilian court instead of a war tribunal.
